in Washington"
Two important
exhibitions on
Turkey have been
held abroad within
the space of a year.
One was the “Turks”
exhibition in London
between January and
April. The other is
the “Ottoman
Costumes,” or “Style
and Status”
exhibition, the
opening of which I
attended in
Washington on
Wednesday. Splendid
clothes of the
Ottoman sultans are
on display at the
Arthur M. Sackler
Gallery within the
famous Smithsonian
museum complex in
Washington, D.C. As
you'll remember, a
10-year protocol has
recently been signed
for an exchange of
exhibitions between
the Culture and
Tourism Ministry and
the Smithsonian
Institution. The
main sponsor of this
exchange is Koç
Holding.
"Kempinski
Astoria luxury
residence
project sells 90
percent of units"
The developer
of Istanbul's
first residence
project to be
managed by a
5-star hotel
company has sold
90 percent of
the units some
two years ahead
of the scheduled
completion of
the Kempinski
Residences
Astoria.
Vedat Aşcı,
chairman of real
estate
development
company Astaş,
said they had
only sold about
15 percent of
the units prior
to a mid-September
cocktail party
they held at the
Çırağan Palace
Hotel, also
operated by
Kempinski.
“Foreign
investors bought
units both as
residences and
as investments,
and Kempinski
will handle the
leasing of those,”
said Aşcı.
